2009 In Albums

cds2009I don’t do lists. What I do instead, is file down some albums that I liked most last year. No better or worse stuff. Just my personal favorites. Here we go!

  • Paramore -Brand New Eyes
  • Drivelikemaria – Elmwood
  • John Mayer – Battle Studies
  • Pearl Jam – Backspacer
  • Volbeat – Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood
  • Muse – The Resistance
  • Them Crooked Vultures – Selftitled
  • Wolfmother – Cosmic Egg

And last but not least, I discovered Florence and the Machine and The Temper Trap lately. Unfortunately their discs are not yet im my collection!

Customizing my nameless Stratocaster!

Today I have customized my no-name Stratocaster with some new tone and volune pots, and while I was at it, I bought some Fender Tex Mex pickups. Down below you’ll see some work in progress and final shots!

Pictures on the Wall

So here they are, my first pictures on the wall! Love ‘em!

Quote: John Mayer – Edge of Desire

Don’t say a word, just come over and lie here with me.
Cause I’m about to set fire to everything I see.
I want you so bad I’ll go back on the things I believe.
There… I just said it, I’m scared you forget about me…

I mean, how can you not love this, a song about an eager desire around midnight.

Photography Tutorials: Aperture, Shutter Speed & ISO

Watch this man ramble on about the basics of photography: aperture, shutterspeed and ISO. A bit crazy, but learned a lot out of it.

Think Different.

It never gets old to me, the slogan used in Apple’s 1997 “Think Different” Commercial:

Think Different - Albert EinsteinHere’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Happiness

When I was 5 years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down “happy.” They told me I didn’t understand the assignment. I told them they didn’t understand life.

Ukelele – Changing your OSX Keyboard lay-out made easy

ukelele_iconSay you have a dead key on your Macbook keyboard or some keys you rareley use and want to swap for another key. I searched for an easy way to do this and stumbled upon Ukelele. Without it, you have to change your keyboard lay-out by messing around with some XML files.

Instead of doing that, you can now throw around with the keys using an easy to use GUI and nice user manual included in the download. Besides all the functional good stuff, it’s free! Click here to go to the developers page.

Favourite symbian s60v3 / Nokia E71 applications

So here goes, my favourite and most used apps on the symbian s60v3 platform.

1. Gravity

Hands down the best native twitter app for my nokia. It costs like a euro of 8 but it’s well worth the effort. twitpicking, searching, trends, it’s all in there. Try it out at www.mobileways.de

2. Opera Mini

Tiny, fast and compatible, just 3 things a mobile browser should be. The home screen shows you all your bookmarks in a single view.

3. Mobitubia

For checking out stuff at youtube. I find the official youtube app too be a little sluggish and doesn’t play all the videos right.

4. Putty for symbian

The title says it all, irssi, centerim, bash terminal on your favourite server within reach. Has profiles for various connections. Seriously, who doesn’t love irc-ing from the toilet :p?

5. Wordmobi

The app from where I write this post. Previous versions lacked the function to save a post as draft but in the latest version it’s all there. Just awesome.

If you think a made a serious mistake leaving out some apps, don’t hesitate to tell me in the comments section below!
